How our overseas tracing service works

How our overseas tracing service works

Say, for example, you asked us to trace someone in Australia. Our first step would be to ask what methods of international search you have carried out already.

Usually people who approach us will have some sort of data on the person they want to find – a date-of-birth, name, previous name, job details, phone number or a last known address. They may already have looked on Facebook, LinkedIn or a mobile phone app like Signal, Whatsapp or Telegram.

However, sometimes people instruct us to find someone abroad without any information at all. In these cases we would assign the case to one of our award-winning, experienced in-house investigators to research your subject.

Our agents would then conduct a thorough enquiry using the relevant methods in that specific locality. On your behalf they would carry out enquiries and follow leads based on the information supplied by you and as a result of any other information gained along the way.

We charge for this service if our United Kingdom sources confirm the subject’s address. All successful traces have a free 30 day re-trace policy.

Trace fee  - A retainer of £125.00 will be required. If we are successful with our UK enquiries a further fee of £100.00 is due. Our report will be emailed to you when we receive payment. Fees not inclusive of VAT.

Re-trace policy – Vilcol will re-check free of charge any information supplied by us if the request is received in writing within 30 days of the date of our report.

What is an International Tracing Agency (a.k.a International Locator Service)?

An international locator service is a professional investigation solution used to find individuals or entities whose whereabouts are unknown. In the context of international tracing, a locator service is designed to track down people who may be living, working, or hiding in another country.

These services are commonly used to:

  • Locate missing relatives or friends abroad
  • Trace debtors who have relocated internationally
  • Find beneficiaries in probate cases
  • Assist legal firms in locating witnesses overseas
  • Track down former employees, business partners, or shareholders

International locator services rely on a combination of global databases, partner investigators, public records, and local intelligence. At Vilcol, we work with a trusted international network covering over 40 countries, ensuring a compliant and thorough approach to locating individuals across borders.

Whether you need to reconnect with someone for personal reasons or pursue legal or financial matters, a professional locator service provides the expertise and reach required for successful results.

Can I find a former colleague who now lives abroad?

Yes. If you're trying to track down an ex-colleague for professional or personal reasons, we can help. Whether it's for networking, business opportunities, or simply catching up, we can trace individuals using employment history, past addresses, and other available records.

Can you find old friends who have moved overseas?
